Panama City Beach Vacation 2020
For years growing up, we always went to Panama City Beach (PCB) for vacation. I’m talking for about the first 15 years of my life. It was the first beach my feet touched. Well, I wasn’t a huge fan of the sand and would draw my feet up under me every time they touched but you get my point. Haha
It’s been about 8 years since we’ve been back though. It’s one of those things that you think about with nostalgia and you want to go back and relive it. This year we finally did.
We went to our top restaurants (and judged the hushpuppies at each place because we’re all about those hushpuppies!), sat on the beach, and read our books! Keep reading for a fun recap & a ton of photos from our Panama City Beach 2020 Vacation!
It rained every day except for Thursday. Usually in the morning but sometimes in the afternoon. One day, Macy and I decided to just chance it & figured it would move right on out without raining. Nope. We weren’t down there 10 minutes before the sky fell out & we made a run for it back inside!
Our pretty view on the beach!
Every single day was a scorcher. I have never in my life been to the beach when it’s this hot. Usually, the beach takes off about 5-10* but it did not this year. There’s usually a breeze coming off the ocean but there wasn’t much of one this year. One day it was so hot & miserable, I was sitting in complete shade but you still felt like the sun was hitting you & you were burning. It was crazy! The afternoons were the best time to go.
Our favorite sandwich shop, Liza’s Kitchen, was right down the street from our condo so we went there a couple of times & grabbed lunch. One day, Mom was going to pick it up & brought Zoe downstairs so I could grab her & take her back upstairs. Zoe wasn’t having that! She wanted to get in the car with Mom & go so I hopped in the car & we all rode there together. Zoe did so good in the car!
Sister Photoshoot
Macy & I also had a little photoshoot on the beach! It was so fun getting to take some photos! We tried some walking on the beach photos & those are much harder than they look in sinking sand! Haha
Beach Fun!
Zoe came outside for a few minutes to play & let’s just say that she isn’t a huge ocean fan. We think the waves scare her a little bit but it was a lot of fun for us to watch her run around on the beach & in and out of the ocean.
Yummy Food!
When my sister & I were little, we (our parents) would cook a lot more & we didn’t go out to eat as much when we were on vacation. As we got older, we pushed that to the wayside because what’s a vacation when you’re still having to cook & clean just like you do at home?
This year, with COVID, we decided to be a little more cautious & do a little bit of both. Mom & I each cooked once in the condo & we ate out a couple of times. We went to Schooners, Pineapple Willy’s, and The Back Porch & all 3 restaurants seemed to do a good job of distancing the tables & the servers all wore masks. We also didn’t want to go out a lot, we really enjoy sitting on the beach until they take up our chairs, so doing a mixture of going out & staying in really worked for us this year.
P.S. Out of the 3 places we went to, Pineapple Willy’s had the best hushpuppies & The Back Porch had the best fried shrimp & crab cakes.
Beach Views
The beaches were packed! You had to be vigilant to make sure that you weren’t on top of other people. The chair rental company we used did good about that but some people would bring their own chairs & sit within a foot or two of you so we would have to move to have some space. Definitely something to keep in mind if you’re headed to PCB soon. The area right at Pineapple Willy’s was the worst. All week we were wondering if it was actually as packed down there as it looked & when we ate there, we discovered that the answer was yes, yes it is that packed.
I kept up with my workouts & yoga throughout our Panama City Beach 2020 vacation & let me tell ya, it doesn’t get much better than hearing the sound of the waves & looking out at the ocean while you work out. I totally got spoiled with that every day! Working out at home is going to be a little more boring now. Haha
The last couple of days the water was like a lake & it was crystal clear. I promise you, it was actually this color blue. This photo above isn’t edited at all! 🙂 You could see the fish swimming at your feet! Macy & I constantly had two fishes swimming around us-even when we’d move to get them away from constantly touching our feet, they’d follow us down the ocean a few feet! They loved us.
That’s all for our Panama City Beach 2020 Vacation! I hope you enjoyed getting to relive the vacay with me through these photos & the stories. 🙂
Love,
