Baby in Bloom Baby Shower
I’m so excited to share the Baby in Bloom Baby Shower recap with y’all today! Back when my cousin announced that she was pregnant, Macy asked if she could throw her a baby shower. Fast forward a few months & we finally got to have the shower last Saturday.
We were worried that we weren’t going to be able to have it with COVID & while we did have to change the date once or twice, we put it off as long as we possibly could without trying to pushing our luck in case Baby Girl came early. Thankfully, everything went off without a hitch!
*We took extra precautions due to COVID and had finger foods already portioned out so everyone wasn’t touching everything, we had sanitizer, wipes, and extra masks in case anyone wanted any. Everyone was safe. No worries. 🙂 *
Anyway…this shower has been a long time coming. We’ve been brainstorming & prepping for a couple of months and had so many great ideas. Macy & I knew pretty quickly that we wanted flowers involved plus some pink & gold. We wanted this to be girly but not over-the-top girly.
I actually found these plates & napkins at Target in their “dollar section” & for me, that totally solidified the theme & what direction we were going in. I could start to see it all come together from there.
Balloons!
Macy ended up putting this balloon ‘arch’ together & I. am. obsessed. with. it. Fun Fact: the mantle wasn’t it’s original home. It was going to go in a different spot but Macy was putting it together right there at the mantle & the moment I saw it, I knew it had to go there.
Don’t you think it just pulled the whole room together? I do! I still can’t believe that she did that. If I had put a balloon arch together, well, it wouldn’t have been an arch & there probably wouldn’t have been any balloons in the end. Haha!
Flowers
We also wanted plenty of flowers! It is a “Baby in Bloom” baby shower after all! We had the idea to use mason jars to decorate so we (and by we, I mean Macy) painted them pink and then I hot-glued the gold ribbon on there to add the gold in from our color scheme. My mom is great at making arrangements so we went to Kroger & bought some flowers to put the arrangements together ourselves. I think they turned out so GOOD! Every one has the same flowers but they all looked a little different, which we liked.
We went with tulips, daisies, and baby’s breath.
Baby Games!
Macy was in charge of games & she came up with 2 great ones! The first was called “Baby Name Race”. In 90 seconds, people had to come up with a girl name for each letter of the alphabet. Someone actually came up with 25 out of 26! I was impressed. I don’t know what letter they missed but they did get the “X”.
“Celebrity Baby Name” was the second game. Macy came up with a list of celebrities & their unique baby names & people had to match the celebrity with their child’s name in about 60 seconds. Mom & I tested this game a few days before to make sure it wasn’t too difficult or easy & we managed to get all of them. In roughly 60 seconds. They weren’t easy, persay, my mom & I just know a lot of useless (or so we thought) celebrity trivia.
Game time rolls around at the shower, we play this game & you know what the highest number of matches was? Go ahead…guess…
4.
FOUR! I couldn’t believe that! I personally didn’t think that many were difficult (I only struggled with a few) but apparently, my mom & I are the abnormal ones. Haha
For a moment I thought, maybe I should be a little embarrassed that I knew all of them fairly quickly when I played but then I thought, nah, my celebrity knowledge for once isn’t useless. Haha
Whoever got the most for each game received a candle!
Food!
Since Macy was in charge of games, I was in charge of food! The shower was at 2 p.m. so we wanted to go the direction of snack-style food. We also wanted to do mainly finger foods so it was already pre-portioned out for everyone.
While I was in charge of exactly what we ate, Macy had the idea to give each food a baby/pregnancy related name. They all turned out SO CUTE!
We used little chalkboard clips to write the names of the food but here’s what we came up with:
False Labor Fruit Skewers
Maternity Meatballs
Veggie Cup-tractions
Newborn Nuggets
Neona-Trail Mix
Kickin Key Lime Pies
Pacifier Pink Velvet Cupcakes
Labor Lemonade (Raspberry Lemonade; it had to be pink of course!)
Melted Ice Chips would’ve been the name for the water but we didn’t have enough chalkboard clips. Oops! We figured everyone knew what water was though. 🙂
Macy also had the idea for everyone to fill one of these out so that way we can see who guesses the closest! Poor Laura was fielding questions left & right about all of the info for her first-born. Haha
Party Favors
We decided to give hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works as party favors with a cute tag that says “Sanitize before Snuggles”. A good idea in general when there’s a newborn around & also given the time we’re living in. They were a hit!
Details
All of the cutlery/paper plates/cups are from Target.
I printed out 2 of the photos from Laura’s Maternity session to frame & use them to decorate.
The Neona-Trail Mix cups, the pompoms, confetti, and baby feet cupcake liners are all from Hobby Lobby.
The balloon arch & balloons are from Amazon.
The banner is from Etsy!
We’re so happy with how it turned out! I hope you enjoyed this post & getting a sneak peek into the sweet Baby in Bloom baby shower we threw for our cousin!
