2 Day Vacay to Panama City Beach

For YEARS, my family would vacation in Panama City Beach. We’d stay in the same condo around the same time of year. We’d eat at our same favorite restaurants. We’d spend 1 morning/early afternoon at Pier Park & spend the rest of our vacation sitting on the beach. It was glorious.

Then…we got older, the owners sold their condo plus we wanted a change so we started going to different beaches.

But one thing remained the same…our love for a particular restaurant: Liza’s Kitchen. It’s a sandwich shop right on the main drag of PCB (Panama City Beach) & it was walking distance from the condo we always stayed in.

It’s been at least 8 years since we’ve been there but we talk about Liza’s all the time.

Macy and I used to joke about just going down to PCB to eat at Liza’s. Just 24 hours. Drive down there, eat, spend a few hours at the beach, & then come home the next morning.

Well. We unintentionally almost did that. We ended up only staying on 30A for 36 hours & we spent part of those hours driving over to PCB, eating at Liza’s, driving around exploring our old stomping grounds & hanging out with some good ol’ nostalgia.

Our trip overall wasn’t the best BUT Liza’s was amazing as it’s always been. It was kinda sorta totally worth it. OF COURSE I documented this trip so since I’m sharing about my life on this blog, I thought I’d share a little snippet of our 36 hours in Florida. I’ll also share the best places to go in PCB in case you haven’t been there or need somewhere new to eat. 🙂 PCB is open & pretty much all of the restaurants we saw are open for dine-in.

Best part about vacation in Panama City beach is getting to eat at Liza's Kitchen in Panama City Beach, Florida. Photo shows me & Macy in front of the sign.

P.S. 30A is fancy. You’re not gonna find hushpuppies or chicken tenders for your kids on 30A (at least we couldn’t). Also, all the places we saw there are still doing take-out only.

Macy & I had a bucket list for this trip:

1) Eat at Liza’s. 2) Eat some good hushpuppies. Only one of those things happened but it’s not our fault the stretch of 30A we were on is too fancy for some hushpuppies.

We were so excited to finally be here!! And to eat our favorite sandwiches again!

Schooner’s is one of our FAVORITE places in PCB. Our other go-to was The Back Porch in Pier Park. Pineapple Willy’s was a go-to when we were little but when we got older & Pier Park was built, we started going to The Back Porch. Highly recommend Schooner’s & The Back Porch!

I’ve been wanting to wear this jumpsuit forever so even though we were just going to PCB, I got all dressed up! And of course, Macy & I took pictures before we left! We had too!

It’s not a vacation in Panama City Beach if you don’t go to Jaws or Moby Dick’s. So we obviously had to stop by Moby Dick’s & grab a couple of t-shirts.

We came back to 30A & hit the beach!

Ready for 30A's beach!

The water was freezing but the sun was out & it was nice and warm! The wind was insane though when you were actually on the beach! I felt good & surprisingly wasn’t cold. Then Macy went inside & I realized that she was right: she was blocking most of the wind from me. I got real chilly when she went inside. When the sun started to set, I was actually wrapped up in my towel. Haha

I have no shame.

It might’ve been a really short & rough trip but those few hours we spent in PCB & on the beach were so nice!

Love,

Disclaimer: This trip wasn’t all rainbows. Don’t let these pretty pictures with smiling faces fool you. Remember that the Internet usually just shows people’s highlight reel but I wanted to share that it wasn’t all sunshine & rainbows so don’t compare yourself. 🙂
